FOUNDER'S PROFILE

Late. Dr. T.V. Venkatesan (1916 - 1994) was a multifaceted personality. He was professor of Dermatology at Madurai Medical College and an eminent Dermatologist of International fame. He has been extensively trained in Edinborough and has attended skin clinics at Miami, Boston, New Orleans, Washington D.C and Chicago. He was the only Indian to be invited as a guest lecturer in the World Congress of Dermatology in Nagoya, Japan in 1981. He always believed that a busy man is one who finds time for everything.

Apart from his professional commitment he was involved in various other fields.

He was District Governor in the Lions Clubs International and during his term the district stood 2nd in the entire world in membership growth. He was correspondent of Madura College, Madurai. His social service to the poor is something exemplary. He has conducted more than 200 free SKIN and LEPROSY DETECTION CAMPS in and around south India. He has helped many deserving youngsters in education and job opportunities.

Achievements in India and Abroad

1969 - Has attended as one of the five delegates from India, the second world congress of International Society of Tropical Dermatology at Kyoto, Japan. This was sponsored by the recommendation of the Madurai University. During the congress he presented a paper on some cases of 'XERODERMA PIGMENTOSUM' and this has been published in its proceedings.

1979 - Delivered Dr.Baskar Ambady Memorial Oration at the Indian Association of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology Conference held at Srinagar. He was awarded a shield and Certificate

1981 - Was invited as one of the ten foreign delegates and the only delegate from India to deliver guest lecture on 'MADURA FOOT' at the 80th Annual Conference of Japanese Dermatology Society at Nagoya City University in April 1981

Special Award - for Medico Social Work

On 15 November, 1986, he was honoured at Tamil Nadu Indian Medical Association with a plaque and Certificate for the outstanding meritorious service
